Synopsis

Louis "Louie" Zamperini was a kid who struggled a lot. To cope with his struggles, his brother taught him how to run great distances in a very fast time. Louie was great at running and made it into the Olympics when he was still in high school. After he competed in the Olympics, he joins the air force during World War II. During one of his rescue missions, his plane crashes at sea, leaving only three survivors. The three boys struggle to survive the extreme heat and dangerous waters. Louie and only one of his friends survive, but are taken to a Japanese concentration camp as a prisoner of war. Can Louie and his friend make it out alive?

Review

This book is absolutely amazing. It is intense, but it really describes the life of Louis Zamperini in a great way. You are really able to understand his struggles and how Louis felt during this time. The recommended age is 12 and up due to intense scenes and strong language.
