In the made-up school Pency Prep, a sixteen-year old named Holden Caulfield is packing up his bags since he's failing almost all of his classes. This is isn't new to him, since he has been kicked out plenty of times before. The story takes place around Christmas, so most of Pency's students are going to leave for winter break. But for Holden, he decides to leave early. This starts when Holden gets in a fight with his roommate, Ward Stradlater, after he goes on a date with Holden's childhood friend. Holden spends his time away from school in hotels and talking badly about his past schools and classmates. The Catcher in in the Rye is a great novel with rebellious tones.
