Enroll in Google 2-Factor authentication

Enrollment in Google’s two-factor authentication (also known as 2-Step Verification) is required.


Instructions: If you have not already enrolled, please self-enroll today by following these simple steps below -

  1. Open your Google Account.

  2. In the navigation panel, select Security.

  3. Under “Signing in to Google,” select 2-Step Verification > Get started.

  4. Follow the on-screen steps.

If you can’t set up 2-Step Verification, please contact techsupport@cua.edu

Once you have enabled 2-Step Verification, logging onto Google Workspace requires two steps:

  1. Enter your Cardinal email address and password as usual.

  2. Then, enter a code or other verification to confirm your identity.

To avoid having your account locked out by apps trying to use your old password - Have all your devices with you!

  • Change your password setting on Wi-Fi, Gmail, and browsers on all your devices (smartphone, tablet, laptop, desktop)

Campus to high speed Wi-Fi - CUA-Secure

CUA-SECURE: Campus-wide hi-speed wireless network designed for university students, faculty and staff.

  • You must enter your Cardinal username and password when connecting to CUA-SECURE.

  • Please do not use CUA-GUEST, as it is intended for use by visitors and is quite basic.

Wi-Fi Calling for when there is little or no cellular coverage

Wi-Fi Calling can be used in campus buildings or other locations where there is Wi-Fi service but little or no cellular coverage.

Wired network connection

Use wired connection for high-speed connectivity (if your device supports wired connection)


Instructions: Follow these steps to connect your computer to the network wall port.

    1. Turn off the computer.

    2. Locate the network wall port in your room.

    3. Insert one end of the network cable into the Ethernet port on your computer. (It does not matter which end you use; they are both the same.)

    4. Insert the other end of the network cable into the network wall port that has a computer icon.

        • Red network cable to the port marked with Red dot

    5. Turn on the computer and log on.


Missing a cable or adapter?

    • Please check the drawer if your room is missing the red Ethernet cable for the wired connection.

    • Network cables and adaptors are available for free at your Residence Hall Office.


Register a device

If you want to connect your non-computer devices, such as streaming devices, smart speakers, etc. that do not have a built-in web browser to a campus wireless network in your residence hall room, you will need to register the device's network interface hardware ("MAC") address.

Student Printing

Many computer lab classrooms and common computer areas have shared network printers available. These can be accessed from the lab computers, or your personally-owned notebook computer.

These printers are a shared resource--please be courteous.

Microsoft Office:

As a student at Catholic University, you can sign up to get Office 365 for free! To download Microsoft Office, please follow the instructions at microsoft.com/en-us/education/products/office.


Read&Write

The University has a license for Texthelp Systems Read&Write. Please visit our Read&Write download page where, after logging on with your Cardinal Credentials and agreeing to the license terms, you can download the software.


Other Software

Students may purchase software at reduced academic prices in the Campus Bookstore, located just across Michigan Avenue from campus at
