Using your game console on Resnet

Here are instructions for connecting your Sony PlayStation game console on the Catholic University residential hall network. The instructions are similar for other consoles.

We strongly encourage you to use the wired network port, since it provides the best speed.

  1. Ensure there is no pending update on your console.

  2. Ensure you do not have uPNP enabled

  3. Connect your PS3/4 to the network via Ethernet (please make sure your Ethernet connection is working by connecting a laptop to the wall port first, and make sure you can connect to the internet)

  4. Power your game console device off and back on.

  5. From the PS4 Menu (XMB), Scroll right to Settings –> Network -> LAN Cable

  6. Select Custom -> IP Address Settings (Automatic) -> DHCP Hostname (Do Not Use) -> DNS Settings (Automatic)

  7. Next -> MTU Settings (Automatic) -> Proxy Server (Do Not Use) -> Test Connection
