Printing on an Apple macOS computer

This page describes how to set up your personally-owned macOS computer for printing in a classroom or lab.

1. Select System Preferences from the Apple menu (Apple logo at upper left hand corner).

2. Double-click on Printers and Scanners.

3. In the Printers and Scanners window, click on the plus sign button near the bottom.

4. Select "Add Printer or Scanner..."

5. Select the IP tab in the Print Browser window.

6. Set Protocol for any of these printers to HP Jetdirect - Socket.

7. For Address, enter the IP address of the printer you want to add. Example: Hannan 134 has the IP address of 136.242.188.44.

8. Leave the Queue field blank.

9. Fill in the Name and Location fields in whatever way will help you remember where this printer is located. Example: Name: Hannan 134 Printer and Location: Hannan Room 134.

For Print Use, it will usually auto select the driver.
