As a California independent study school, we are required to offer optional synchronous (live) instruction opportunities for students. This provides a chance for students to connect with a credentialed teacher in real time for academic support. There is no negative impact on the student if they do not attend.
At CAV, synchronous (live) instruction opportunities are offered by all teachers. If you would like more information about times available to your student, please reach out to their teacher directly.
We are required to notify families when students do not take part. No action is required
Thank you for your continued support.
Hello Parents:
Students are working with the End in Mind, Habit 2. They are writing Mission Statements in class and in their leadership roles. Here i
Habit 2
Mission statements have long been a part of organizations. They provide a clear path for what the organization wants to
accomplish and how they plan to go about doing it. Yet, rarely does a family take the time to write a mission statement—and
what organization is more important than the family? By establishing who you are as a family, how you want to be known,
and how you plan to do it, you are practicing Habit 2: Begin With the End in Mind. The process is a great way to practice all
of the 7 Habits.
STEP 1
Ask yourself these seven questions:
How do we want our family to be known?
How do we want to treat each other?
What is most important to us as a family?
What are some of our talents, gifts, and abilities?
What makes us the happiest?
What makes us unhappy?
What kind of home do we want to invite friends to?
STEP 2
Write your Family Mission Statement. Consider all four areas:
Body (health and physical wellbeing)
Mind (learning)
Heart (relationships)
Spirit (inspiration)
Keep it simple, one to two lines, so the youngest family members can memorize it and find it meaningful. Examples: “We are
builders,” “No empty chairs,” “We love each other,” “All for one and one for all,” etc.
STEP 3
Stay on course.
As parents, you are the role models. Keep smiling and getting back on track.
The promise: By writing a Family Mission Statement, the message to your children is that your family is important. You know
what you stand for and how you are going to work together to accomplish it.
Veteran's Day this week is on Tuesday. There will be no school. A track will have class on Wednesday, and B Track will have class on Thursday. M track will come on both days. Friday is a home day as we have Staff training.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Lasto
CAV Principal

*DROP OFF AND PICK UP REMINDER*
When driving into or on our campus:
Staff directing traffic are there for your safety and that of our staff and students. Please follow all traffic rules and the directions of our staff.
Do not leave your car unattended in the pick up lane or in any other place that isn’t a parking spot. We are happy to get your student for you and/or buckle them in if needed.
There is absolutely no drop off or pick up in any parking lot on our campus. It is an extreme safety hazard when students walk through areas where there are cars actively driving. If you want to park and pick your student up from the parking lot, you MUST park and walk to the sidewalk to get them. We will no longer be allowing students to just walk out and find their cars.
If you want to walk your student up for drop off, please park in the parent parking lot and get out to accompany them to supervised areas. If you are not parking and walking your student in, the ONLY safe place for drop off and pick up are in the designated drop off and pick up areas where staff are on duty.
Students may not be dropped off on the street below our campus. If your student is walking in, they need to be dropped off in an area that is not an active city street.
We have speed bumps installed in our driveway now to keep the speed down. Please drive slowly on our property.
Please do not block the passing lane at the bottom of the hill when entering our property. The residents of the apartment complex beyond us need to get by safely.
Please also exercise caution when exiting our property since we share the road with the apartment complex residents.
Please keep in mind that all of these requirements are designed to keep students safe when being dropped off and picked up on our campus. We realize it might take some time to get through our drop off and pick up lines, but we do our best to make this happen as quickly and safely as possible. Thank you for your cooperation and help at drop off and pick up times.
VISITOR AND VOLUNTEER GUIDELINES
ALL visitors/parents/guardians who will be coming on campus MUST sign in at the front desk and obtain a Visitors Badge.
Please have your ID ready the first time you check in. After this 1st check-in, we will not require your ID. You may provide your name at the front desk and we will print you a visitor's badge.
If you will be volunteering in a classroom or plan on volunteering in the future, please email Caitlyn Avila and she will send you the Volunteer Letter/Survey that is required to be completed in order to volunteer on our campus. cavila@classicalacademy.com
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
