Hello CAV families! My name is Sarah Ellis and I’m thrilled to be our school’s Box Tops for Education™ Coordinator.
Clipping Box Tops is an easy way to help earn cash for our school. Each one is worth 10¢ for our school! Just look for the pink Box Tops on hundreds of products. All you have to do is clip them and send them to school.
This school year, I think that together we can reach a goal of $1000.00. Your children can bring in any and all Box Tops to the front office to drop them off. Also look for a fun Box Tops cut and paste sheet at conferences or pick one up in the front office. I am so excited about this program…together we can do A LOT of great things for our CAV family!
For more information on Box Tops, including a list of participating products, visit the Box Tops for Education website. Be sure to sign up as a member (it’s free!) so you can check out our school’s earnings details and get access to coupons and bonus offers.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I’m here to help make our school’s Box Tops for Education™ program a huge success this year.
Thanks for your help and I hope you have a wonderful day!
:) Sarah Ellis

Donation Needed: We need 2-4 cases of small water bottles to offer students during their testing weeks. Please contact me if you can donate; this can be used towards your 10 volunteer hours.
8th Grade Promotion Pictures: Please email a baby picture and a current picture of your 8th grader to Mrs. Eddy at keddy@classicalacademy.com. We will be putting these photos into a slideshow to use at Promotion in June. Thank you!
8th Graders Only: Math Readiness Test for High School: Students will be taking a high school Math Readiness assessment in May if they are going to one of our high schools. The Math Readiness Test review materials are attached. 8th Grade students currently enrolled in the 8th grade math course will be taking the Math I Readiness Test, and the review packet is identical in length and type of question that they will see on the actual test. The biggest difficulty for many students is that no calculators are allowed, so practice is highly beneficial to their success. Hope this helps! All other 8th grade students, these practice tests may be beneficial to you to use just in case your high school has a similar placement test. Take advantage of the readiness opportunity.
K-2 Logic of English (LOE) Users: Please note you will be asked to keep your consumable workbooks over the summer to continue to use for next year.

The course is open during normal park hours, 7 am to dusk.
Disc Golf is a great outdoor exercise and it's fun too! It's also a sport that can "grow with you," as there are Disc Golf courses all over California and the United States. Need a disc? (It's basically a Frisbee or other similar disc). Disc rentals are now FREE at Brengle Terrace Park - just leave your ID during store hours at the Pro-Shop. The shop is located between the softball fields in the concession stand in the park. The shop has maps, discs for free rent & for sale, snacks and more. The San Diego Gulls Learn to Play Hockey Program offers first-time hockey players the chance to get on the rink in full hockey equipment for free. Participants will receive instruction on the basics of hockey as well as learn how to skate properly. The program is designed for participants ages 4 to 12 years old. No prior skating or hockey experience is required. Participants who are already comfortable skating a length of the ice, who want to try hockey are encouraged to register for the Little Ducks Hockey Initiation program.*
Participants in the San Diego Gulls Learn to Play Hockey Program will be provided with an equipment bag, helmet, shin guards, hockey pants, elbow pads, shoulder pads, gloves and a jersey to use for the four week session in order to be fully protected on the rink. Rental skates will be available at the rink each week. The use of full hockey equipment not only gives participants the feel of what it’s like to be a hockey player but also enables them to get use to skating, wearing all of the hockey gear.**

School Drop Off Traffic Flow Diagram
School Pick Up Traffic Flow Diagram
Drop off is from 8:30 - 8:45 am.
We will meet in the gym for our all school assembly from 8:45 - 9:00 am. All family and friends are welcome at our morning assembly. All kids will follow their teacher to their first morning class at 9:00 am.
Late arrivals will need to check in at the office. Office Staff will walk students to their class.
Pick up is at 3:00 pm for K-2nd and 3:30 pm for 3-8th.
Younger siblings waiting for older ones will be supervised on the playground until the 3:30 pm pick up.
We have two lines of traffic that come into the pickup area.
At book pick up, you will receive a placard with your last name to display in your car window.
Last names beginning with A-K are on the playground lane (inner right lane) and L-Z are on the parking lot lane (left lane). Signs will be posted to help with traffic flow. The first few weeks will be slower as we learn to recognize cars. Please be patient as we work this out. Last year we were able to get everyone in and out within 10 minutes.
Do you have a comment, suggestion, idea to share? We have a special email address just for you, comments@classicalacademy.com. Your partnership is valued. Your ideas strengthen our programs. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
