Here at CAV, we view competitive athletics as a critical tool for developing the discipline, character, communication, and sportsmanship skills that are consistent with our TCA philosophy of developing tomorrow's Thinkers, Communicators, and Achievers.
This interscholastic program provides an athletic opportunity for 6th, 7th and 8th grade boys and girls to compete against local middle schools in a variety of sports throughout the school year! We use locally based facilities for practices and rely on our parents to help coach and support our teams. These sports include flag football, volleyball, soccer, basketball and cross country.
This program is for currently enrolled 6th, 7th and 8th grade students at Classical Academy Vista including M-Track and C-Track.
Students must maintain a C or higher in each class to participate in extracurricular opportunities including but not limited to: sports, musical theater, ASB, etc. Student-athletes are expected to meet all expectations of school behavior described in the Parent Student Handbook.
Our students heavily rely on our awesome parents to coach our teams!
If you played in college, high school, have some, or no experience at all, but love working with kids, please let Mr. Bean know!
If you're interested but not sure if it fits your schedule? Here is the basic commitment:
Season: Approximately 8 weeks long
Games: Average season as 2-8+ games held at local schools all over North County. Game days will be determined when the season schedule is finalized.
Tryouts/Practices: This is up to the coach. Some teams will have tryouts and not everyone will make the team. Some coaches might want more than one practice while others will have one practice per week.
Benefits!: You complete your volunteer hours for the school and the personal fulfillment that comes with watching a group of students come together and collectively learn, improve, and make new friendships!
As of now, we are not part of any leagues, with the exception of Cross Country, who will participate in the Coastal Conference. For now, we will act as a developmental team and pick up games as they come. These games will be located all over North County and will typically be played on Friday's, early afternoon.
All athletes have a suggested donation that varies from sport to sport per season that they participate in.
Your donation helps cover the cost of equipment, practice facilities, referee costs, and any league fees that we might participate it.
Suggested donation amounts vary by sport.

Sports Waiver
Each athlete must complete and turn in a sports waiver to participate in any of our sports. This form only needs to be filled out one time and is good for any additional CAV sports teams your player gets rostered on during the school year. The waiver is linked here.
I Want to Play - How Do I Know When Tryouts Are?
(Tryout dates to be determined)
Ideally, tryouts (if we have them) will occur approximately 2-3 weeks prior to the season starting. This year, beacuse sports are so new there will not be that much time for try outs. Information about them will be provided repeatedly at the following locations:

Are There Cuts?
What Skill Levels Make the Teams?
This is a competitive league and we play to win games so yes, sometimes there will be cuts based on the number of students that try out. We will, however, do our best to provide for all students. Some of our sports could offer an A and B team with A players being higher skilled and B team being more of a practice team, learning and working on their gameplay.
