JA BizTown is a 10,000 sq. foot mini-city in which kids discover how the "real world" works. 5th graders become JA BizTown "citizens," where they work in one of 21 businesses, make personal financial decisions as well as for their business, hold business meetings, pay taxes and donate to charity.
The program includes 9 required teacher-taught, in-class lessons. The program culminates with students participating in the hands-on simulated community at JA BizTown where they will spend the day working and utilizing all the skills they learned through the classes to see what it's like to complete banking transactions, work in a professional environment and many other adult responsibilities.
This interactive, project-based program not only teaches students how to manage their own personal finances and the importance of becoming a successful professional within our community, but it also empowers them to take responsibility for their professional and educational futures! It is such a great experience for any 5th grader to experience the responsibilities of adult life in a very fun environment.
The BizTown field trip takes place on February 13, 2020 at 4756 MISSION GORGE PL, SAN DIEGO, CA.

This project will be so much fun for the students. Mosaics are exciting, and using a variety of materials including glues, glass, stone, and grout makes this project such a wonderful learning experience for a variety of ages.
We have 275 excited art students, that love being creative thinkers, and this project will open up their imaginations to the beautiful reflective art of creating mosaics.
Using a variety of glass and stone will give these projects a striking appearance. They'll remember this project forever, and hopefully bring this art form home to share with family and friends.
We are so excited to get started with our Musical Theater Fundraising!
Here is a super fun activity for all ages!
Come join us!

Classical Academy High School's Homecoming Game will be held on Friday, October 4, 2019 at Del Norte High School. All Classical Academy students are invited to represent our school and walk in the Homecoming parade.
There will be no admission price for students participating in the parade. Parents, however, will need to purchase a ticket.
Please encourage students to wear either a school shirt or school colors.
Students should meet at the end of the field, by the scoreboard when there are 5 minutes on the clock for the second quarter. The announcer will remind them when it is time to line up.
Students will line up according to class (K-8 th grade)
We will need someone from each school to help organize students. The youngest ones will probably need someone to walk with them and lead the way for the others.
Students will walk in front of the home bleachers to the end of the field, where they will sit in the end zone during halftime. We will need a few teachers to help keep them still and quiet during halftime.
We will provide the banners for the lead students to carry.
Once they get to the end of the bleachers, they are to sit in the end zone, quietly, while the Homecoming Court is announced and stay in that area (seated) until halftime is over.
Admission Prices (no credit cards or bills larger than $50):
Adults - $7
Students/Seniors - $5
Family of 5 or more: $25

Please follow the arrows and sign to our parking lot. We are the second lot as you drive in. The first lot is for the Church and Preschool only. We want to be respectful of our neighbors, so please park in our lot only.
There is no drop off in the church parking lot. For security of our kids, we need to drop them off in our parking lot or directly to our office. This is especially important for our K-2 classrooms on the first level. They must go to the office and be walked to class if they are late.
Thank you for following our parking policies!
School Drop Off Traffic Flow Diagram
School Pick Up Traffic Flow Diagram
Drop off is from 8:30 - 8:45 am.
We will meet in the gym for our all school assembly from 8:45 - 9:00 am. All family and friends are welcome at our morning assembly. All kids will follow their teacher to their first morning class at 9:00 am.
Late arrivals will need to check in at the office. Office Staff will walk students to their class.
Pick up is at 3:00 pm for K-2nd and 3:30 pm for 3-8th.
Younger siblings waiting for older ones will be supervised on the playground until the 3:30 pm pick up.
We have two lines of traffic that come into the pickup area.
At book pick up, you will receive a placard with your last name to display in your car window.
Last names beginning with A-K are on the playground lane (inner right lane) and L-Z are on the parking lot lane (left lane). Signs will be posted to help with traffic flow. The first few weeks will be slower as we learn to recognize cars. Please be patient as we work this out. Last year we were able to get everyone in and out within 10 minutes.
Alternate Pick Up - Please complete this form and bring to our front office if your child(ren) will be picked up by someone other than a parent or guardian
Medication Form - 2019-20 Medication Form will now require a doctors signature for ANY medication
Household Information Update - Please return this form to the office with any new information so we can update our records. If you change your residential address, we will need a current proof of residence showing the new address.
The California Department of Education has requirements for the way schools handle student medications, and because of that, all TCA schools will put into effect the following medication policy for the 2019-2020 school year.
Per Education Code 49423 & 49423.1, any medication required to be taken during school hours, whether prescribed or over-the-counter, must have a doctor's signature, name of the medication, dosage, schedule, and method of delivery . We also must have a written statement from the parent indicating the desire to have the school assist the student with the medication per the doctor's order. Even if your student will be carrying their medication with them, we still have to have a signed form from the doctor, from the student stating they understand how to take the medication, and signed approval from the parent.
We will no longer be able to administer any type of medication (not even Tylenol or Ibuprofen) without a doctor's signature, even if it is only a one-time situation. We will also no longer be able to accept any loose medication. All medication must be in the original container.
We know this might be inconvenient, but it is really for the safety of the students. Since we do not have licensed nurses on site, these changes are being made to allow safe delivery of medication and predictable outcomes for students who are assisted by unlicensed personnel. We are receiving annual training by the school nurse to deliver medications safely. Any medication requiring extra skill for delivery will be communicated to the school nurse who will then set up training with selected staff.
If your child will need to have medication available in the office next school year, you can pick up one of the new medication forms ,which has a spot for your doctor's signature, in the front office or download the form here.
Please note, this new form is only good for one year and should not be dated before July 1st, 2019.
Do you have a comment, suggestion, idea to share? We have a special email address just for you, comments@classicalacademy.com. Your partnership is valued. Your ideas strengthen our programs. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
