Hi CAV Families,
Welcome to the first day of Unit 2. This is your week to celebrate all the hard work you completed and move on to the next Unit of Study.
We are announcing our first round of small groups coming on campus. There are two ways to join small groups. One is through your teacher who will send out personal invitations. Teachers will be offering small groups and emailing you directly. The others are on a signup basis and information with link follows.
A/B Groups
A/B K-2 will be back 9-12:30 one day a week. Families will receive the schedule and day of attendance this week their child is to attend.
Other A/B options will come from teachers with book clubs and other options throughout the coming units.
C track Groups

3-5 Buddies on Campus on Thursday, 1-2:15. Meeting outside by the picnic tables.

Interventions
Literacy support will be inviting kids on campus to help with gaps in literacy standards.
Special Education
Special Education will be providing some Special Education Services on-site in a small group setting. Your child's case manager will be reaching out to you with more information. Please note Special Education safety guidelines will be reviewed with you and your child.
Courses on Schoology in Electives and Intervention support will continue to run. Musical Theater is offering Zoom classes.
Sign Up Genius is used for all small groups that require families to select a time and spot.
We will continue to add kids on campus as we move through the unit. We will continue to monitor the CDC and county health and safety protocols. Our community's health and safety is important to us.
I hope you have a wonderful conference week. Please reach out with any questions or concerns.
Take care,
Kirstin Lasto

A Journey In Art- 3-8:
Welcome to Art Class with Miss Kris! I'm so excited to take you on a journey in art this year. This is my 6th year teaching art with the Classical Academies, before that I was working in interior design and spent many years as a commercial artist. Art is such an exciting subject to learn, and it builds critical thinking skills, as well as creativity. This course will teach you many different ways of creating art. The class will look at many artists including Ansel Adams, Wyland, Georgia O'keeffe, Basky, and Picasso. You will learn the foundation of art elements, and principles of design as we go through each project.
So, roll up your sleeves, find a quiet, comfortable place to draw, gather your supplies, and let's make the very best of this year. I will be hosting an ongoing weekly discussion board that I hope you'll be a part of. It's a fun way to share projects, and a positive way to support one another. You'll also be watching a weekly art video where I will guide you through each project. I'm looking forward to creating art with you all.

On September 1, 2020, the USDA extended the summer grab-and-go school meal program for all children until December 31st, 2020. Children aged 1-18 are eligible to receive meals regardless of school or district of attendance. School districts are working hard to implement the new guidelines and meet local needs. Locally, we are aware of meal services in Escondido, Oceanside, and now Vista. Please visit their websites for more information. To find out when your neighborhood school will be ready to participate in this program, please visit Fall 2020 Meal Sites for Students.

8th Grade Class Trip to the East Coast
2020 East Coast Trip Open Enrollment
The 2020 East Coast trip has been rescheduled for the following dates:
March 18-25, 2021
Additional infomation for this trip will be provided soon.
Due to COVID 19, Our 4th-6th Grade Class Trips have been cancelled for this year.
The 4th, 5th, and 6th grade class trips will be postponed this year due to COVID19. With shifting health updates, and the unpredictability of just how the school year will unfold, we have made the tough decision to cancel the trips for this year. Our 7th and 8th grade class trip has been moved from fall to Spring and we hope that this trip can happen. Obviously, as that date gets closer for these trips, we will keep our travelers updated if changes or a cancellation if needed. We regret this is happening and hope to see these educational adventures return next year.

Get Involved! Contact our Parent Volunteer Coordinator Tiffany Jaggi - tjaggi@classicalacademy.com
The Parent Volunteer Program was established to connect parents’ skills, passion, and abilities to their school community. Please enter all the information correctly so that your hours are applied to the correct category/event.
As the year progresses, the Parent Volunteer Coordinator may email you with links to sign up for events that may need help as well as any needed donations. Parents are always welcome to volunteer where they would like and do not need to wait to be invited to help. Our parents are always welcome on campus and in the classroom!

There are now three ways you can submit Box Tops!
There are still products out there with traditional Box Tops that you clip and send. We will still accept those! Bring any clipped Box Tops to our front office.
Eventually all Box Tops will change to the new label - you can download the Box Tops app and scan your receipts - every box top is still worth 10 cents for our school!
*Or* Bring in your receipts and we will scan them for you!
Please follow the arrows and sign to our parking lot. We are the second lot as you drive in. The first lot is for the Church and Preschool only. We want to be respectful of our neighbors, so please park in our lot only.
There is no drop off in the church parking lot. For security of our kids, we need to drop them off in our parking lot or directly to our office. This is especially important for our K-2 classrooms on the first level. They must go to the office and be walked to class if they are late.
Thank you for following our parking policies!
School Drop Off Traffic Flow Diagram
School Pick Up Traffic Flow Diagram
Drop off is from 8:30 - 8:45 am.
We will meet in the gym for our all school assembly from 8:45 - 9:00 am. All family and friends are welcome at our morning assembly. All kids will follow their teacher to their first morning class at 9:00 am.
Late arrivals will need to check in at the office. Office Staff will walk students to their class.
Pick up is at 3:00 pm for K-2nd and 3:30 pm for 3-8th.
Younger siblings waiting for older ones will be supervised on the playground until the 3:30 pm pick up.
We have two lines of traffic that come into the pickup area.
At book pick up, you will receive a placard with your last name to display in your car window.
Last names beginning with A-K are on the playground lane (inner right lane) and L-Z are on the parking lot lane (left lane). Signs will be posted to help with traffic flow. The first few weeks will be slower as we learn to recognize cars. Please be patient as we work this out. Last year we were able to get everyone in and out within 10 minutes.
Do you have a comment, suggestion, idea to share? We have a special email address just for you, comments@classicalacademy.com. Your partnership is valued. Your ideas strengthen our programs. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
