Because of the complexity of people and programs in our Main Building during the week, on weekends and after hours, we have broken up this training into Office Week Day Evacuation and Other Times Evacuation.
At Other Times, eg not Week Day Office hours, when the alarm sounds, the person in charge of a group of people must evacuate the building to a safe distance. If a fire is detected but no alarm sounds, the person in charge would evacuate people with them and call 000 and the Chief Fire Warden.
The appointed volunteer or staff member in charge of a booking must be trained in how to evacuate safely. They should receive this information at the time of booking through facility.
This includes all other rooms within the Main Building.
Power Outage
If the Main Building loses power during office hours and it does not come back on, we ask our staff to leave the building. Emergency exit lights will illuminate the exit paths. We do this to minimise risk to staff moving about a darkened building.
If we lose power during an event, meeting or service, in any other room, other than A1, the event / service coordinator would assess whether staying is safe or not.
For a power outage during a service in A1, please see Power Outage Instructions for A1.
