As an Area Warden your role does not just start when there is an emergency. All staff should know who you are and you should generally carry out safe practices in your day to day work - eg ensure egress paths are clear, access to fire equipment is clear and that rubbish is disposed of and not lying in hallways. As an Area Warden, if you find any hazards that require addressing, you should either handle the situation yourself if possible or contact reception to have the issue dealt with. If it is an emergency situation, you should call the Property Manager immediately.
You would also take note of any person starting work in your area who would struggle to get out of a building quickly, and have a plan to get assistance for them to leave the building.
