Anatomy &
Body Casts
To enhance learning of muscle systems, students create plaster gauze casts of their bodies, painting the muscles in the correct places and fiting the cast pieces together.
Objective: Through the creation of life casts of the parts of the body, students will have an enhanced ability to identify the muscle systems. Students will be able to describe the process of casting with plaster gauze and will apply the elements of art in the painting of the muscles on the cast body parts.
Outcomes:
Students will understand the process of casting with plaster gauze.
Students will know how to use color, form, line, shape, texture, and value to cause painted muscles to appear three-dimensional.
Students will be able to identify the muscles system of the human body.
