6th grade students in Mr. Taylor's Social Studies class learned about the ancient Egyptian civilization. To better understand the culture, governing system, religion and language students participated in an arts integration project by creating an Egyptian clay slab.

With knowledge about the ancient Egyptian culture and art, students began working on their arts integration project. One component in which the students would be measured was accuracy in translating their names and a statement into hieroglyphics. Students were provided an illustrated resource of glyphs paired with the English alphabet.

Use characteristics and traits of the Egyptian Style (Profile and Frontal pose) to illustrate a story.
Include multiple registers to divide your slab into at three sections (story, hieroglyphs, decorative)
Incorporate hieroglyphs, accurate translation. Students name must be included within a cartouche.
