Afri-Fractions

In this Arts Integration project the AAA fourth grade class traveled to the Community Creative Center (CCC) in Fayetteville to participate in an Arts Integration project that combined Social Studies and Math units.  In Social Studies students learned about specific African tribes and in Math students learned about fractions.  Director of Arts Integration and Museum Partnerships, Aaron Jones, worked with teachers to create a lesson that incorporated color schemes and proportions from African tribal masks with fractions. The result was a visit to CCC where students were invited to work in clay and use fractions to create an African inspired ceramic mask and its embellishments.
