Children will work in a group, to analyse the following persuasive text.
At the end of the workshop children will work to present their own persuasive writing.
Possible titles are:
- Plastic bags should be banned from super markets;
- Wild animals should not be kept in a zoo;
- Dogs are better than cats;
- Dogs should be banned from public parks.
Term 3 week 3
WALT: understand the structure of persuasive text
Success criteria: respond to persuasive text check list.

Apostrophe ' workshop
WALT: use apostrophe in a text appropriately.
Success criteria :Complete assessment questions at the end of the workshop.

Success criteria: Evidence of punctuation i n the piece of written work.
Explain why a specific punctuation is used in the text.

Use interesting descriptive words (adjectives)
Verbs are used in the past tense form eg went, got. walked
Activity 1
Take one event or more from your holidays time and write a recount of at least half a page.
your recount could be a place you visited or any interesting experience as if you are telling to your friends.
Make sure to use punctuation such as Capitals, full stop, coma, question mark.
If you need more information see sample recounts posted in the class.

Success Criteria:
- We can use reflective language
- We can structure our reflection correctly.
- We can share our learning on Seesaw.
Instructions:
Attend at least on workshop with Mrs Pirangi
Complete your reflection using the tips to help you.
Edit and recraft your work with a buddy.
Term 2 Week 3
WALT: a report about a scientist.
Success Criteria:
Report has an introduction, body paragraphs and a conclusion.
Report has at least 3 paragraphs that contain facts about your chosen scientist.

Term 2 Week 2
WALT: Respond to a video from the Literacy Shed.
WALT: write a science fiction narrative.

Write a diary entry
Use first person narrative.
Instructions
Watch the video and complete the following work.
Write a diary entry for an astronaut landing on the planet, describing the journey, landing, meeting the inhabitants etc
Follow the writing process.
Complete published work on Seesaw.
Term 2 Week 1
WALT: write a thank you card to your parents at camp. about camp (or Mrs Howard and Miss Wackrow if you stayed at school).
Success Criteria
- Your card needs to start with Dear (Name).
- Your card needs to have correct spelling, grammar and punctuation.
Instructions:
- Follow the writing process to complete your card.
- Include something specific that you are thankful to the parent or teacher for.
- Draft your card in your literacy book and use the template Miss Jones gives you to publish.
- Colour your card in.
Term 1 Week 7-8
WALT: Create an information report

Success Criteria:
- Non- Fiction piece of writing.
- Use paragraphs.
- Use our avatars to follow the writing process.
- Ask for help if we need it.
Instructions:
- Attend the workshops you need.
- Follow the correct Structure.
- Move your avatar around the writing process.
Term 1 Week 6
WALT: write and say our pepeha in te reo.
Success Criteria:
- Use the given structure to write our pepeha.
- Recite our pepeha to our whānau on seesaw.
Term 1 Week 4-5
WALT: Use a mindmap to plan our writing.
WALT: Use our mindmap to draft our writing.
Success Criteria:
- Make a brainstorm.
- Group ideas.
- Write an information report.
Instructions:
- Watch the video.
- Create a mindmap of what you have seen.
- Use your mindmap to write your information report.

Term 1 Week 3

Success Criteria:
We have filled out and completed all the SMART goal boxes.
The table matches up with our goals.

- Follow the prompts to complete your SMART goals.
Thursday: Create a goals poster on google drawing. You must have a photo. Once finished post to Seesaw.
