Task 1

We will read the story 'The World Will End, Said the Cat.



Make sure you use reciprocal reading and it's roles when reading without the teacher.

Task 2

You are making a connection to the text. How can you connect to the text to another text that you have read?

  1. What kind of story is this?
  2. What other stories have you read that are similar to this story?
  3. Complete the sheet and then post to seesaw once you have finished. Make sure you include to title and walt in your post.

Task 4

This story has a lot of words that we may not know, or know what the mean.

  • Go onto word cloud and put in all the words you don't know.
  • On a google document, list the words and their meaning and use the word in a sentence (not the same one from the story)
  • After you have done this, post both the word cloud and definitions to seesaw.


Task 5

As we discussed, this is a fantasy text. Your next task is to create a poster advertising a new planet for everyone to go to because the world is going to end according to the story.


You need to use colour and imagination. Create the poster in your book or on a google doc and upload to seesaw and show Miss Kemp.


Thing to remeber:

  • Why people will want to move to your planet?
  • What is there to do on your planet that you can't do on other planets?
  • Use colour and your imagination!

Making Connections

Task 1: Use the making connections strategy to help you complete the following worksheet.

You are making a connection to the text. How can you connect to the text?

1: Choose a phrase from the text and write it into the " In the text it says...." column.

2: In the "My connection..." column write down how you can connect to this part of the text.

3: Post to seesaw once you have completed the sheet. Make sure you include the title and WALT in your post.

Reciprocal Reading

Reciprocal Reading Forces and Motion

Use the reciprocal reading roles to read through a range of texts.

On Seesaw make a post in your literacy folder that discusses your role in reading (e.g. clarifier, predictor, leader, questioner, summariser) and what you had to contribute to the group.

You can also summarise the main points of the article/ story and the thoughts of your group.

You should get through 1 -2 texts a week. If you're reading more than this think about the QUALITY of your discussions.

When you are reading make sure :

  • all roles are taken
  • you are using the talk moves and norms (make sure everyone is participating and you are working with a reasonable noise level).
  • you have completed your seesaw task.

1- Once you have watch the video draw a basic diagram of a race car. You may find a picture of a race car online instead.

2- Label the main parts of the race car in your books if you have drawn it or on the picture if you have done it online. Main Parts: engine, wheels, cockpit, front, back.

3- Use the text to help you with this question: Thinking about the different variables when designing a race car label where the main aerodynamics would be when racing this car Airflow(what produces drag) thrust, gravity, lift.

4- Upload your completed diagram or picture to seesaw and use audio to explain your findings/drawing.
