This week, your reading sessions will take place within whanau classes. Use the reading activities below to help provide you with information for your "Postcards from the Planets " theme activity.

This week, your reading sessions will mainly involve preparing for the studnet lead conferences or participating in the Break-Out Challenge.
If, at any point this week you are not involved in either of the activities above, you can do the reading comprehension task about planet Jupiter below.
WALT
Identify the setting / characters/ complication & resolution in a piece of narrative writing.
Instructions
Read the following two stories: "The Amazing Humans" / "Space Nuts at Light Speed"
Make your own copy of the narrative response sheet. Save it into your literacy folder. Make two duplicate slides. Complete the information for each narrative story.
Early finishers: Reading Box Green independent reading.
Probe and PM running record assessments will continue through week two. On Monday you will be introduced to the Reading Box Green reading kit and complete a short leveling test to help determine which colour use should begin at. While the teacher is assessing students on a 1:1 basis, you are to work independently on the box cards and use the marking keys to track your progress.
WALT:
- Use the Reading Box Green kit as an independent reading task.

Success Criteria
- I know what my reading coour level is for the reading box.
- I am selecting cards from the appropriate level and return cards to the correct place in the box.

WALT: gain an understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi and the settlement process.
WALT: define vocabulary (words) that are unfamiliar to us.
Success Criteria / Instructions
Read the article below.
With a partner, create a new Google sheet.
Both partners must type 5 words each that are new vocabulary words to you.
Find another pair. Show your words to each other. Can you help explain the meaning of any of their chosen words to them?
Use an online dictionary or a physical dictionary to write the meaning of your chosen words.
