KS4 Overview

Y10 - The curriculum in year 10 is designed to enable students to revise year 9 content but also to build on previous knowledge. Students generally have a mock exam each half term, this enables class teachers to intervene where gaps have been identified in pupils knowledge. The Y10 curriculum incorporates rich, functional and problem solving questions into every lesson to deepen student knowledge and understanding, this is to ensure pupils are able to apply their understanding of Maths to different contexts.

Y11 - All students study GCSE Mathematics in Y11. Students either sit the Higher or Foundation tier paper with the Edexcel examining board. Students are assessed throughout the school year through teacher assessments and trial exams.

Our department provides Y11 pupils with extra support during this year to ensure pupils maximise their potential, examples of the support offered are:

* Saturday school * Online Saturday School * Maths PE Intervention

* Academic Form Tutoring * Lunchtime Support * Period 7
