Yes, it's been a while.
Now 'beginning of school year' rush is over (yeah right) I thought we could revisit a few things.
How many times do you make a plan to meet and then it's changed when you ask the 2nd person and then the 1st can't make the new time? Have you thought about using your calendar to make a meeting time and inviting all the participants? Include the agenda in the description or even a linked google doc for the minutes and that way the people who can't make it can still be involved. Give it a go, using your calendar is a good way of being organised. DO NOT be one of those people clinging to a paper calendar! Your online calendar is available anywhere you have a device and can be updated easily.
BTW if you do use a paper calendar it's ok, only kidding.
I've added a short tutorial for using your calendars here on the Staff portal.
If you add something to the school calendar can you please also add it to the public calendar if our community should know about it. And, if you change something be sure to update both calendars. See the screenshot below
I used Skitch to mark up the image above.
This should be your Home page at school.
Be sure to close Chrome when you're done if you want it to open the Staff portal the next time you open Chrome. Make it a habit to check for notices, if we all use it we'll get less emails. ;-)
Did you know you can access all the timetables on the staff portal here.
I've aded a new tab under our PLD link on the Portal. It's where we'll showcase different tools that can be used at school. They are short videos that showcase something you might not know of or maybe show you a tool used in a different way. I'll be asking others to contribute to this page, don't be shy, I see so many great things happening at school that deserve to be shared. Here is a link to the tab.
I used Quicktime to make the screen recording and then just added the titles and voiceover in Imove - nearly a one take wonder.
You have two different models of Ipads in your class. The ones in the black covers are teh new Ipad AIr model and are probably more reliable if you are wanting to transfer files off it. You can even use Airdrop if you have a Mac.
Updating and installing Apps:
Want a new app? - Discuss it at your team meeting and decide if it is worthy, get you team leader to email me the name of the app ( a link to the app store would be great) and how many devices it will be used on. I can install it remotely on the new Ipads but individually on the older ones.
How are you storing your devices when they are not being used and charging?
I'll be sending around a student from R4 to take photos of how devices are stored. If we share the photos we might share ideas and help someone out.
One last idea. How do you identify your class Ipads from another classes?
In our class we have taken photos of our class number and set it as the Wallpaper on the lock screen.
