Did you notice there is not a computer in the Resource room by R6 & 7? It is connected to the internet so you can quickly access something if you need to e.g. Journal surf. This is a shared computer so no printing will be set up.
We purposefully limit the number of apps on school Ipads. There are many stories of school Ipads having apps that are not used well and are just babysitting tools. Remember if you want an app then your team leader has a rubric for discussion and they can ask for app to be purchased and installed. Juniors, this is easy for you as I can push them out via the Self service app. Middles and Seniors, this is not so easy so it had better be the best app in the world as I need install apps on Ipads individually.
One of our core Apps is Bookcreator This is a really powerful and simple to use app that allows for text, audio, photo and video to be merged into a digital book. It can be shared as a pdf or even a video so it can be embedded on a blog.
If you haven't used this app yet then you and your students are missing out. Watch the video on the link above and then have a go. Better still, let your students have a go. #giveitago
Update:
Sylvia has shared the chrome Bookcreator app. It looks really good. Sign up as a teacher then add your students to your library. No example to show just yet. You do get a limited number of books on the free version but you can pay for more space.
On Thursday David B. and some science guys form the Auckland University installed an earthquake monitoring system in the office foyer. It tracks live data so if we have an earthquake you can take you students over for a look. More information will follow I am sure.
Thanks for having a go at the staff meeting last night. Hopefully by just having a taster you might be thinking of ways to use the tools in authentic contexts. I've made a folder in the School photos 2018 folder for photos (add some to your pd blog).
Here's how R4 used this in class.
