December 5-11 the Hour of Code is happening worldwide. This is our chance to participate in a global event and maybe try something new that you have not previously tried with your students.

This website has everything you need to know, including videos and why coding is important for you and students to learn.

You can book resources here and find links to more on the doc.

Please add any photos of you and your class programming/coding in this folder.

Remember all student IT mobile devices (Chromebooks and Ipads + cords) will be collected in during Week 10. Please be prepared for this as I will have limited time to collect it all in. The purpose of this is to do a bit of a stocktake and to update operating systems. There may be some movement of devices in 2017 but essentially you'll get the same devices back.

If you are a departing staff member please return your staff laptop, bag and cord to me before you leave on the last day of school.

1. Keep your wits about you: Be careful opening festive season ecards or emails particularly when they are from anonymous senders or contain misspelled words or strange/vague subject lines. And do not blindly click on links without first verifying the sender.
2. Shop at secure websites: Try to shop at big name ecommerce sites. If you do decide to shop at an unfamiliar website take the time to research the merchant before placing an order.
3. Keep your private information private: Be careful about the types of details you share online including which functions you are attending, your travel plans and anything else that lets people know when you’re not at home.
4. Update your system and software: Take the time to update your operating system and any software on your computer/device to protect against malware and viruses.
5. Put a password on your device: It’s not uncommon for mobiles, tablets and wearable devices to go missing while people are celebrating. Protect your personal information by putting a password on your device to ensure that if it does get lost your data remains confidential.
