Post date: Sep 15, 2017 12:23:23 AM

Good Thursday Afternoon,

I hope you are all well and enjoying your first weeks of school. I am sending this email to all of you with several questions and opportunities for future collaborations.

Many of you have applied to continue with the statewide Master Teacher Academy and I am so pleased that you have. The NC Master Teacher Program would also like you to continue to be involved in our region. Please say you will!!

I am curious if...

  1. You would like to continue to stay on the email list receiving all emails from this address as well as from other MT's or if you would like to just monitor the website to see the PD activities that are upcoming? (Please know you are always welcome to participant in any activities we offer) If you would like to stay completely connected, do nothing and I will continue to send emails - if you would prefer to have a cleaner inbox let me know and I will remove your address.

Opportunities:

  1. Would any of you be interested in offering a PLT or mini course either in the fall/spring or during the "Flex February" to the current MT's in our region? The NCMTP will stipend you at a rate of $50/contact hour plus prep for the PD offering.
  2. Would any of you be interested in offering a breakout session for our full day PD in October, March or May. Again we would offer you a stipend of $100 for a two hour session or 2) one hour sessions with 4 hours of prep for either at $300 ( Themes for each meeting - October - Sharing best practice/Reading & Writing in the Content Areas. (Canton) March - Technology Day (Plattsburgh) May - Motivating Students (Watertown)

For the out of area events we would pay for your room and meals.

  1. The Education Unit at SUNY Plattsburgh is offering a PD Activity for all Ed majors titled - The Celebration of Teaching and Learning in the STEM Classroom on November 2nd in Sibley Hall beginning at 3:30 until 6:00. They are looking for inservice teachers to present a 45 min session showcasing something you do in your classroom. In essence sharing the best of what you do with undergraduates. The event will culuminate with a paid dinner at Samuel D's or another area eatery. They would love to have you participate.

Looking ahead:

The North Country Teacher Resource Center is looking for STEM Facilitators to offer 15 hour courses to the greater educational community. Let me know if you are interested and I will provide Denise Sypek, NCTRC Director your contact information. She is looking for Winter/Spring Offerings.

Wishing you all the very best. I hope to see you sometime - often - soon,

Kathy
