Facilitated by Dr. Neal Abrams, SUNY ESF. Participants will travel to Highland Forest (old growth section) to conduct a biological diversity analysis. In addition, participants will practice numerous lab techniques pertaining to: soil acidity, pH, combustion, light penetration, etc. Master teacher participants will then travel to another part of Highland Forest (secondary growth section) to replicate all test performed at the first sample site. The data will then be accumulated and analyzed. From this data, participants will be able to make conclusions of the overall health of primary growth forests vs. secondary growth forests. Curriculum resources will be made available to all participants. The participants can then directly employ the resources and materials they obtained to positively impact student outcomes.
Directions on where to meet will be provided. This is just south of Syracuse.
