Congratulations. Dr. Byungho Lim's paper on the novel function of RUNX3 was printed in the American Cancer Society's journal "Cancer" on November 15. Genetic variations in the RUNX3 distal promoter were associated with susceptibility to intestinal-type gastric cancer by increasing promoter activity to produce an oncogenic isoform. The oncogenic isoform was a surprise for the well-known tumor suppressor RUNX3.
