In Grade 8, HMH Into Math prepares students for high school mathematics by focusing on algebraic thinking and the analysis of functions. Students study linear equations, slope, and systems of equations, and learn to interpret and represent relationships using graphs and tables.
Instruction includes work with exponents, square roots, and the Pythagorean Theorem, as well as transformations and congruence in geometry. Students apply mathematical concepts to real-world problems and develop a deeper understanding of how mathematics models real situations.
This course emphasizes critical thinking, problem solving, and readiness for Algebra I.
