Language Arts

In grade 5, students will receive instruction that addresses the rigor of the new reading standards in a highly supportive way. Students will have the opportunity to develop into strong independent readers through instruction and practice with high interest, complex informational and literary texts and engage in a rigorous standard based program.

Grade 5 – HMH Into Reading

This course prepares students for middle school literacy expectations. Students engage with complex texts, evaluate information from multiple sources, and strengthen analytical thinking. Writing instruction focuses on argument, informational, and narrative writing with an emphasis on organization and evidence.

CURSIVE

K-5th Grade Handwriting & Cursive Ohio House Bill 58 mandates the teaching of handwriting and cursive for grades K-5. Our K-2nd graders are taught manuscript printing. 3rd-5th graders are taught cursive using workbooks & regular practice.
