Students are introduced to early literacy skills through engaging stories, songs, and hands-on activities. Instruction focuses on letter recognition, phonemic awareness, and beginning phonics skills. Students practice listening, speaking, and early writing while building a strong foundation for reading.
MAP Reading Fluency is an adaptive assessment that measures students’ reading development in areas such as phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Results are used to guide instruction and support student growth toward grade-level reading proficiency.
This assessment is administered periodically throughout the school year to monitor student progress.
There is no preparation required; students should simply do their best.
Fundations is a structured phonics program that provides explicit instruction in phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, and handwriting. Students engage in multisensory activities to build strong foundational reading and writing skills.

K-5th Grade Handwriting & Cursive Ohio House Bill 58 mandates the teaching of handwriting and cursive for grades K-5. Our K-2nd graders are taught manuscript printing. 3rd-5th graders are taught cursive using workbooks & regular practice.
