07 SMART
To quote renowned American philanthropist and writer Elbert Hubbard:
“Many people fail in life, not for lack of ability or brains or even courage, but simply because they have never organised their energies around a goal.”
Task 1
“SMART” is an abbreviation which has several slightly different variations and can be used to provide a more comprehensive definition of goal setting:
S - specific, significant, stretching
M - measurable, meaningful, motivational
A - agreed upon, attainable, achievable, acceptable, action-oriented
R - realistic, relevant, reasonable, rewarding, results-oriented
T - time-based, time-bound, timely, tangible, trackable
Task 1:
Research and analyse all slides of the PowerPoint presentation with the included links.
01. Transfer the “SMART” concept to your ICE project.
02. Create a PowerPoint presentation including the applied concept of “SMART” for your ICE-project.
03. You will realise that there is missing information and vague specifications.
04. Try to get all information you need from the proposal and from your project provider.
05. In the first days of the first week in Santa Clara, you will have the kick-off meetings with your project providers.
06. Every group should present for acceptance to the project provider the “SMART” presentation while kick-off meeting.
07. Every group should have completed the description column for step 1 to 7 in the “smarter-goals-template.docx”.
08. After the kick-off meeting, every group has to send the finalized PowerPoint presentation and the Word document to my
email-address.
09. Every group will be assigned with a group grade for the first task.
The more you know about your project the better grade you get.
Every goal will be checked of measurability.
Every project will be checked of the applied “SMART” concept.
