The General Settings page exposes the following parameters:
First Photon Timestamp = 0
Forces the first photon timestamp to be zero. This option is useful in some rare cases.
Align Histogram Bins
This option forces histogram bin definitions to be multiples of the chosen bin size (by default, the first bin's lower bound is set to the smallest value in the histogrammed dataset). This option needs to be selected when summing up histograms, for instance. In general, there is no good reason to have this option off. It is provided for backward compatibility with analysis performed with older ALiX versions.
Max Number of Bins/Histogram Axis
The maximum number of histogram bins that an histogram can contain. This parameter is provided in order to prevent very large (or infinite) bin numbers to be calculated in case the bin size has been chosen too small or the calculated histogram range is excessively large compared to the selected bin size.
The default value is 1E5, but larger (or smaller) values can be set by the user, depending on the available RAM and analysis purpose.
Reset all Graphs to Default when Loading a new File
This flag allows specifying whether or not all graphs in the different pages should be reset (emptied) when a new file is loaded.
Export Graphs to Notebook
This option sends a copy of each modified graph after each calculation (the Time Trace graph need to be exported manually by the user). While this is convenient to keep a record of all steps performed during analysis, bear in mind that each graph is copied as a bitmap image and tend to occupy from a few 100 kB to a few MB, resulting in Notebook files which can have large sizes (100's of MB).
Verbose Mode
This option sends a few words mention of each analysis step performed by ALiX which do not result in visible changes in ALiX pages to the Notebook (in green and italicized). This helps keeping track of intermediate steps performed during analysis, but can also be distracting.
Analysis steps outputting results to the Notebook also include a description of parameters used (these messages are output in blue and plain style) and are unaffected by this option.
