The Edit menu is comprised of 9 items allowing the user to save, load or reset control values and settings:
1. Save Current Control Values
This opens up a dialog asking the user to select (or create) a file in which to save the current values of all Controls on the different ALiX pages, The file is a text file, formatted as an ini file. This allows, for instance, to save analysis parameters associated with a particular file (or files) for future re-analysis or sharing (without affecting the Settings)
Note that Indicators (such as graphs or analysis results) are not saved, except for the cursor locations in the Macrotime Histogram (us Alternation Periods page), Nanotime Histogram (Nanotime Display page) and ALEX Histogram (ALEX Analysis page).
2. Load Control Values
This performs the opposite action to Save Current Control Values. The file dialog allows the user to reload a previously saved Control and Settings file and restore ALiX's parameter values to that previous state. Note that this does not perform any analysis or load any data file. These steps need to be executed manually (or using a script) to restore the internal state of the software. This can be easily done if the analysis consisted in a script, as the script parameters are restored in the process.
3. Reset Control Values to Default
Resets Control values to their default values.
4. Save/Load/Reset Settings
These menu items perform similar actions as the previous ones, but are limited to the general settings (controls found in the Settings window).
5. Save/Load/Reset Control Values & Settings
These menu items perform a combination of the two previous sets of functions and are generally used to preserve a configuration for future reproduction of analysis results.
