The Statistics Aliases Definitions window can be opened with the Windows >> Statistics Aliases Definitions menu item (Ctrl-D) or by pressing on the Statistics Aliases button in the Burst Statistiscs Definitions tab of the Burst Analysis page.
This tools allows reading, modifying and creating aliases of formulas involving basic burst statistics and aliases (note, however, that recursive definitions will not be interpreted properly). By default, ALiX comes with an Aliases List of definitions, which were found useful at one point or another. They can be deleted one at a time if so desired by selecting an alias in the list and pressing on the Remove Selected Alias from the List ( - ) button.
Any Alias can be modified by editing its Alias Definition and pressing the Add/Modify Alias ( + ) button. If the Alias Definition is erroneous, an Invalid Formula LED will show up above the definition, and the Alias won't be modified.
A new alias can be created from scratch, or by starting from an existing one and modifying its name (Alias string in the Figure above). It is recommended to enter a brief Alias Description of the intended use of the corresponding formula.
If checked, the Send New Definitions to Notebook checkbox will result in precisely that when the Add/Modify Alias button is pressed.
It is also possible to send one or more specific definitions to the Notebook by selecting them in the Aliases List and, after right-clicking on it, choose Send Selected Alias to Notebook.
Note that an alias can be a constant (such as the lk and da constants, standing for donor-leakage and direct acceptor excitation coefficient, respectively).
When quitting ALiX, the user is offered a chance to save any modification to the Statistics Aliases Definitions to a file. The default file is the Formula Aliases.txt file located in the ALiX installation folder. It is also possible to save or load any other file from within the Statistics Aliases Definitions window itself using the Save Aliases and Load Aliases buttons.
