Homework:

1. Read, annotate, and complete the most important ideas organizer for Solitude and Leadership by block day so that you will be well prepared for the Socratic seminar discussion.

2. Finish the sketch that is described in agenda item 4.

Outcome Objective:

1. Practice "listening" with an open mind by playing the believing game.

First Thing:

1. Get the Checklist and "The Olympic Contradiction" article by David Brooks and read

2. Seating Chart

3. Reminder: check your email, check I.C., check the website—stay on top of your game

Agenda:

1. Address questions from yesterday

2. Think aloud for "The Olympic Contradiction"

3. Debrief the activity

Compare your checklists with a partner and then tell me what you noticed

4. Draw a sketch representing all the different voices you hear in David Brooks’s “The Olympic Contradiction.” These are the people who have contributed something to the conversation he’s joining. Be sure to include Brooks himself in your sketch. Stick figures are fine—the point is for you to be able to see these references or sources as real people!
