General Shift Expectations

• Food and drinks are not allowed in patient areas. You can store food in the fridge or shelves in the break room. There are no formal lunch or dinner breaks.

• Do not leave the department during your shift.

• You are welcome to leave coats and bags in the break room, but please be aware this is not a secure area and there are occasional thefts.

• Scrubs with or without a white coat are appropriate attire. Shoes should cover your toes. If you prefer, you may also wear professional attire instead of scrubs.

• All patients presenting with chest pain, dizziness, shortness of breath, or similar symptoms will have an EKG performed within 8 minutes. The EKG will be brought to the EM3 to read. If the EM3 is busy, the tech may bring the EKG to an attending to read. The attending must write their initials on the EKG.
