Scheduling

Our scheduling software is QGenda at https://app.qgenda.com/login. You will be provided with a username and password for the site.

  • Schedule requests can be entered into QGenda.

  • Requests are due on the last day of the month for the scheduling period 4 months in the future (i.e. September requests are due by the last day of April)

  • No requests will be accepted after this deadline

  • Shift trades should be completed through Tangier. Most people send an email to the Emergency Attendings listserv at EmergencyAttendingsDL@caregroup.harvard.edu to ask for shift trades.

  • Maile Blackburn (mblackbu@bidmc.harvard.edu) is the contact for scheduling questions

Back-up Call Schedule

  • ED schedule includes back-up call assignments "BI Call". There are two people on call. There is no difference between these two calls.

  • One to two shifts per month will be assigned for call

  • On-call attendings must be available by phone or pager and able to travel to the hospital within approximately one hour if needed

If you are sick or have a personal emergency that requires activating call, you should notify both the on-call attending and the on-call ED administrative attending (available in the paging system), email the Vice Chair, Carlo Rosen and Maile blackburn.

Urgent Care Moonlighting

Any attending who does not want to work their scheduled urgent care shift will have 5 calendar days from the schedule publishing date to send Maile Blackburn an email (mblackbu@bidmc.harvard.edu) and let her know which shift they want added to the moonlighting list.

After the 5 days have passed, the full list of available shifts will be sent to all providers for open sign ups. The moonlighting list will remain active for 14 calendar days.

After the 14 days have passed, changes will be confirmed with providers and Tangier updated as necessary.

FOURTH YEARS: Given that urgent care shifts have been factored into your base-salary offer, new fourth years or fellows will not be eligible to offer their scheduled urgent care shifts for moonlighting until they have completed their first year with the practice. However, you are eligible to sign-up to work any of the moonlighting shifts and receive incremental payment, with fellows needing the permission of their respective fellowship director.

The moonlighting rates will be commensurate with anticipated volumes: $225/hour for Mondays; $200/hour for Tuesdays thru Fridays; and $250/hour for Saturdays and Sundays; and available for immediate pay-out. As is our current practice, moonlighting dollars will be paid out on the 15th of the payroll cycle of the month following. Likewise, you are always able to choose the P&L model for these extra shifts. Gary Shillin will contact you regarding payment via your P&L or as moonlighting payment described above.
