Open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, the Berenson Emergency Department at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center is fully staffed by specialty trained, board-certified emergency medicine physicians and trauma trained nurses.

The Emergency Department at BIDMC is a level I trauma center serving the Boston metropolitan area. Each year nearly 55,000 patients are treated in the Emergency Department. Our state-of-the-art facility is designed to meet the needs of a high-volume, acutely injured or ill patient population.

The faculty at BIDMC consists of emergency attendings who are nationally recognized and academically productive. They have been trained at some of the best EM residency programs in the country. Many of the faculty members are ACEP speakers and members of ACEP, AAEM, and SAEM committees. They have expertise in ultrasound, trauma, international emergency medicine, airway management, prehospital care, basic science research, toxicology, operations, informatics, and disaster medicine.
