Here are some links to sites that might be of use for researching arguments. there are many others and this is just meant as a starting point.

Debatabase. This is an excellent site that has arguments for and against a very large number of possible debate topics.

CBC This site is searchable and has information about Canadian and World news.

BBC This site is searchable and has information about British and World news

Globe and Mail A good site for current Canadian news, but searching the archives may require a subscription

The Week An excellent brief summary of major US and World stories, presenting both sides of issues.

Time This site is searchable and has information about US and World news

Munk Debates This site has recordings and transcripts of the Munk Debates, which are public debates in Toronto done by prominent experts about major topics.

The Economist This is an excellent news site on topics around the world as well as science and culture
