JUNIOR DEBATE TOURNAMENT

Debates – 4:30 – 6:30
There will be two rounds on the same prepared resolution. Each team will debate the resolution twice, once in Affirmative and once in Negative. This year’s resolution:
This house believes that the redevelopment of the Assiniboine Park Zoo is a bad thing.
The style of debate will be Manitoba Parliamentary, 6 minute constructive speeches and 3 minute rebuttals. POI’s will be allowed. For further clarification on the rules of this style, please visit the Manitoba Speech & Debate website!
o Each school is invited to send up to three teams, Grades 7-9
o Schools with new and/or developing debate programs welcome!
o Room for more by request to be confirmed after the registration deadline
o If possible, try to bring at least one adult judge per team (There will be a briefing)
o Schools with senior programs are asked to bring Grades 10-12’s to judge
