Novice Outreach Tournament

Hello Debate Coaches:

We are now ready to invite you to our virtual Zoom debate tournament for new and novice debaters from our current outreach schools. The information for registration follows below. Just a note that Junior Debaters (Grades 7-9) are welcome to participate as well, so please have those students select “Grade 9” when they register. If you have a problem or difficulty with signing up, or require further information, please feel free to contact Michael Macaraeg or myself for assistance. I also encourage all coaches to judge as well, which is tremendous experience for learning the art of debate. We will be providing a full briefing for all adult judges as well, so having no experience is never an issue. We are also hoping to have some French speaking students participate in our Bilingual Category, as the MSDA and CSDF continue to support our efforts to grow French and bilingual debate in Manitoba! Thanks to Mike at Morden Collegiate for preparing and hosting this event.

There will be one round of prepared debate and one round of impromptu debate, so the students can experience both styles. The impromptu motion will be announced at the tournament. The prepared resolution/motion is as follows:

This house believes in a four-day work week.

Cette chambre croit en une semaine de travail de quatre jours.

Once you and your students have registered, Mike will be sending out links with further information concerning the tournament and the process. I am truly looking forward to having this event for your programs, and providing your students with an educational and fun experience!

Best regards,

Jordan
