Treasure Hunters Reputation
This reputation is available for players of level 9 and above after finishing the initiation quest "Encountering Treasure Hunters: Path to Treasure", which you can start by talking to Avelius in Thorn Apple Brushwood or Globius in Pacifist Hills.
For this quest you are asked to bring 10 Ragtikron Leather, 10 Bubbly Metal, 3 Small Sparkling Crystals, 3 Sparkling Crystals and 50 Efrils to Avelius or Globius to receive the Opticus. After this, you will receive your first map, with which you will be able to find your first treasure chest. Return to Avelius or Globius with the Casket you found from the map.
With the Opticus, you will be able to search for ancient treasures. In order to be able to look for the next level of treasures after obtaining a badge, you need to upgrade your Opticus (cost each time: 50 gold).
To be able to search for treasures, you will need to have a map to know where to look.
Maps
Four of the same map scrap can be combined to make one full map.
There are a few ways to obtain maps or map scraps:
- Quests: Available every 48 hours to get scraps or with some luck a full map.
- Tubes: Tubes can sometimes be bought during special sales in the Premium Shop, and a Tube of Half-rotten Maps can be obtained by doing the repeatable once a week Sabotage at the Port Quest.
- Elf Casket: There is a small chance to find a new map when opening an Elf Casket, that you just opened.
- Buying: Sometimes maps are sold in special sales in the Premium Shop. Full maps are also transferable so you can buy them from other players via trade, auction or exchange.
There are level restrictions on the use of the maps. You need to be at least the following levels to use the maps listed.

Searching for Treasure
To be able to search for the treasure of one of the maps, you need an Opticus of the same color or better. You can buy an upgrade to your Opticus in the Treasure Hunter storehouse if you have the required amount of reputation and are of a high enough level.
If you have a map you can use, click on it to use it and start looking for treasure. After using the map you will get a message in the chat screen pointing you to the location of the hidden treasure. The location is also indicated on the world map. You have 60 minutes to find the treasure after you activated the map.
Once you get to the designated treasure location, open the hunt screen.
To search for the treasure click and drag the little magnifying glass from the bottom left corner to locations on the hunt screen. It will give you hints how close to the chest you are. There is also an indication at the bottom left on how much time you have left to find the treasure before it is lost forever.
Once you find the chest, this chest appears in the hunt screen. Just click on it to pick it up.
In your Preferences settings you can turn on/off if you want to get "Text hints when searching for treasure". With this option turned off the hints are only colored circles (red, orange, yellow), turning it on will additionally show it with text (far, close, next to).
Note: The Opticus has a total of 50 energy, that means after 50 attempts you need to "repair" it (cost: 1 gold). To do this hover over it in your backpack and click on the repair symbol - this will NOT reduce it's maximum "durability"!
Depending on the map you used, the chest you find is one of the Elf Caskets. You are likely to find a casket of the same color as the map, but there is also a chance you end up with a lower quality chests, up to 3 levels "below" the map you activated. Unfortunately, opening lower level chests will not increase your reputation.

Opening the Elf Caskets will grant you 5 Treasure Hunter Reputation, up to a certain limit, depending on the color of the casket:

Another way to gain reputation is by bringing Sparks of the Heavenly Fires to Avelius in Thorn Apple Brushwood or Globius in Pacifist Hills. After you completed the quest "Encountering Treasure Hunters: Path to Treasure", one Spark will grant you 25 reputation up to a certain amount depending on your level.
For level 9: Sparks can increase the reputation up to 500
For level 10: Sparks can increase the reputation up to 1000
For level 11: Sparks can increase the reputation up to 2000

Opening Caskets
After you find a casket, there are three ways to open it. The most simple one is by just paying some diamonds, Locksmiths can make keys to open the caskets, and the last and probably most common one is to solve a puzzle. The difficulty of the puzzle depends on the rarity of the caskets. The puzzle has to be solved in a maximum number of turns, shown as "Remaining moves" at the bottom.
Locksmiths can buy the recipe for the keys in the shop, accessible by talking to Soygura in Square of Fire or Ostap the Craftsman in Daylight Square. To open a casket, you require a key of the same color, which takes a certain Locksmith level to be able to create. A recipe only has to be bought once, it will not disappear after you created a key.

When opening a casket, you are guaranteed to get some Elfin coins, which can be used in the Treasure Hunter storehouse.
With some luck when opening caskets, you can also find parts of the "Treasure Hunters" collections and sometimes even parts necessary to make the pet or mount amulet.
