The Bartlesville Public School District is always seeking new ways to improve safety districtwide. As such, beginning in late August 2014, the BPSD will implement the LobbyGuard visitor management system at school sites throughout the district.

Paid for by funds from the September 2013 bond issue, the LobbyGuard visitor management will allow school sites to better track visitors entering and leaving the school building. The LobbyGuard electronic kiosk, which will be located at the entrance of BPSD school sites, will require guests to sign in by scanning a driver’s license, valid identification card or passport. The system will then run a background check on the visitor checking in and a photo will be taken of the visitor by the LobbyGuard kiosk. Following the sign in process, an identification badge will be printed out and is to be worn by the visitor at all times while on school grounds. Before leaving the school site, the visitor must check out using the LobbyGuard system.

Only visitors such as parents, vendors and volunteers are required to sign in. Students, teachers and BPSD staff members will not be required to use the system.

In an ongoing effort to improve safety and security, the system will create an additional layer of protection and visitor accountability in BPSD schools. The addition of the system is intended to create a uniform visitor sign in and identification process throughout the district. With the visitor badge system, it will make the process of identifying visitors much easier than what currently exists.

BPSD Safe and Drug Free Schools Coordinator Kerry Ickleberry commented, “The installation of the LobbyGuard system will allow us to better track who is coming in and out of our schools. The system will help create a safer environment for our students and staff.”

In order to ensure as smooth of a transition as possible, the LobbyGuard visitor management system implementation process will not begin until Monday, August 25. At this time, the BPSD will begin gradually implementing the system at sites throughout the district.

“This is going to be a great addition to our district. It will be an adjustment for our visitors at first; however the long term impact will be very positive. I would like to thank everyone in advance for their understanding as we begin to implement the program toward the end of August,” stated BPSD Superintendent Dr. Gary W. Quinn.
