Transportation

In keeping with Oklahoma public school traditions, voters were asked to vote separately on the transportation issue. So the $12.7 million 2012 bond issue was split into a $1 million issue specifically for district vehicles and a $11.7 million issue for everything else.

About $50 per bus rider per year will go to transportation needs, replacing the oldest vehicles such as 1990-vintage buses. The 2012 bond does NOT expand the fleet: it replaces old vehicles. [This bond will purchase about one bus and one Suburban per year to keep the fleet operational. The average age of the fleet will remain in the 1990s.]

REPLACING OLD VEHICLES:

  • Passenger Buses

  • Special Needs Buses

  • District Vehicles for maintenance, transportation of small school groups, etc.

The bus fleet transports about 1,600 students each school day. It is essential that the district fleet be steadily refreshed for safety, reliability, and efficiency.
