What is the cost breakdown by project in the 2012 bond issue?

Post date: Jul 19, 2012 11:55:57 PM

The chart and table at right, and the pie charts shown throughout the website, show the estimated breakdown of the bond issue by project. (Just click any chart to enlarge it.)

3/4 of the bond is directed toward the capital costs for operational programs, which helps out the district's General Fund and thus allows it to maintain the existing programs, staffing levels, and class sizes despite severe cuts in state funding. The remaining 1/4 goes to construction projects.

The district can only provide an estimate for each project since the bond would last seven years and it can only estimate the bid costs on future construction projects and purchases. Past experience with the larger 2001 and 2007 bond issues was that the district was able to fund every project and any remaining monies from interest or low bids were directed to the same project categories listed in the original bond.
