Yung-Ning Elementary Goes Global | Taiwan–Korea Exchange Opens a New World for Our Students
To help students learn beyond textbooks, Yung-Ning Elementary School launched the “SDG 15 Ecology Exploration: Taiwan–Korea Cultural Exchange and Wetland Protection Program” from December 7 to December 12, 2025.
Led by Principal Wen-Cheng Peng, together with teachers and 15 students from Grades 4 to 6, our team traveled to Seoul, Korea for a meaningful six-day exchange journey full of learning, sharing, and friendship.
This program focused on SDG 15: Life on Land, combining school visits, joint classes, cultural experiences, and environmental learning. Through real international interaction, students learned to respect different cultures, care for the environment, and build global learning skills.
📚 Learning Together in Korean Schools
Our students visited Beondong Elementary School and joined a warm welcome ceremony. Through performances, school tours, and shared classes, students quickly became friends.
They learned Taekwondo, sang Arirang, made gimbap, and used English to communicate with Korean buddies. At the same time, they proudly shared Taiwanese language, traditional games, health exercises, and local food such as Taiwanese omelets and winter melon tea.
During the three days at school, students learned to listen, express ideas, respect differences, and build true international friendships.
🌱 SDG 15 Ecology Exploration: Caring for Our Planet Together
Students from Taiwan and Korea worked in mixed groups to learn about Gaomei Wetlands in Taichung and Dream Forest Park in Seoul. They discussed environmental issues, shared daily experiences, and created posters with action ideas to protect nature.
Through teamwork, students showed creativity, responsibility, and care for the Earth.
🌿 Learning from the City and Nature
The journey also included visits to Seoul Botanic Park, COEX Aquarium, and Songdo Central Park, helping students understand sustainable city planning. Cultural visits to Gyeongbokgung Palace, the National Folk Museum, and Eunpyeong Hanok Village deepened their understanding of Korean history and culture.
🎶 Learning Beyond the Classroom
Shows like NANTA, the 3D Art Museum, and K-POP experiences allowed students to enjoy art, culture, and technology in fun and engaging ways.
🤝 Friendship That Continues
At the farewell ceremony, both schools shared reflections, exchanged gifts, and promised to stay connected through online exchanges.
When the Korean principal said in Chinese, “We are forever friends,” it deeply touched everyone and marked a strong beginning for future cooperation. After returning to Taiwan, students will share their learning experiences with the whole school.
✨ At Yung-Ning Elementary, we believe education opens a window to the world.
Through this Taiwan–Korea exchange, we saw students speak English bravely, make new friends, care about the Earth, and appreciate different cultures.
International education is quietly growing in their hearts—and the world is now closer than ever.
