After last semester’s card exchange, the students of 401 and 402 were very excited to meet their friends from Sakawa Elementary School!
To prepare for this online exchange, we started cultural sharing lessons last semester. Students worked in groups to introduce our school and Wuqi’s local culture. In computer class, they collected photos for their presentations and wrote scripts together. They also practiced speaking in English. This semester, everyone worked even harder, rehearsing to make sure they could give the best presentation on the exchange day.
Finally, on March 5, the students of 401 and 402 had a 40-minute online meeting with Sakawa Elementary’s 401 and 402 classes. Both sides took turns sharing about their school life and local culture. After the presentations, they asked each other questions and had a lively discussion. Our students were surprised to learn that Japanese elementary school students also love playing dodgeball!
The fourth graders said that through this exchange, they learned many new things about Japanese culture—some were similar to Taiwan, while others were completely different. It was really interesting! Everyone hopes to have more opportunities like this in the future.
This international exchange not only helped the students appreciate Taiwan’s beauty but also allowed them to learn from other countries and grow together.
A big thank you to all the teachers and students who joined this exchange, for giving our children a chance to see a bigger world!
