Happy Global Village - Postcrossing: Writing Postcards to Make Friends from All Over the World!
This semester, under the guidance of Teacher Ding Wen, the students of Class 401 embarked on a fun and meaningful activity called Postcrossing: Writing Postcards to Make Friends from All Over the World. The students designed postcards that showcase the unique features of our school. Teacher Xi Xian then guided the children in using online tools to translate the messages they wanted to share with their pen pals into English, which they then wrote on the postcards and sent to various countries worldwide. Through the Postcrossing website, we sent postcards to the United States, Germany, Australia, Russia, Poland, the Netherlands, Japan, and many other countries.
Before long, we began receiving replies filled with encouragement and blessings from all over the world. These postcards from enthusiastic netizens brought us immense joy and surprise!
A pen pal from the Netherlands, Niek, wrote back saying, "I have been to Taiwan, and I really like it there. The food is also great. Have fun at school and, of course, work hard." Abran from the United States said, "Hello, Kenny! Thanks for your hand-drawn card! Your art reminds me of when I also had some drawing abilities. It was really fun!" The students of Class 401 were greatly encouraged by these replies and were very happy.
In addition to email replies, we also received physical handwritten postcards. Maria from Germany sent a postcard that read, "Dear Yung-Ning Class 401, this is a letter from southwestern Germany. My name is Maria, and I was a math and geography teacher. It is wonderful that you are participating in Postcrossing. I believe your class has more students than the four koalas on this card, and team spirit is very important. The slogan on the card says, 'Friends united together are priceless,' and I hope it applies to you as well. Enjoy your studies and always maintain your friendships." The students of Class 401 felt the warmth and greetings from their pen pals when they received the physical postcards, and they were very touched.
This activity not only allowed us to learn about different cultures but also helped us make many new friends. It was a beautiful experience that made our school life richer and more colorful.
We would like to thank Teacher Ding Wen for his hard work and guidance, and also all the participating teachers and students!
