In order to share Taiwanese specialties with their student partners from the sister school in India, the fourth-grade students from Yongning Elementary School went through a series of intense discussions and voting to select 10 of their favorite Taiwanese snacks. These included savory crackers, mini cream puffs, small steamed buns, marshmallows, and jelly sticks, which are classic snacks beloved by different generations. Additionally, the students created Chinese character puzzles using the Chinese names of the snacks. They also filmed instructional videos on Chinese characters and created QR codes to attach to the back of the puzzles. We sent the selected Taiwanese snacks and the Chinese character puzzles to our sister school in India to share with our student partners.
The teachers and students from the sister school gave us positive feedback, expressing their fondness for the Chinese character puzzles and the instructional videos. They found it very interesting to learn Chinese while enjoying the snacks. It left a deep impression on them!
