Happy Global Village – Cultural Box Taking Off

This semester, Class 301’s exchange partner is Grand Blanc Academy in Michigan, USA. During the exchange lessons, the children also learn fun facts about Michigan. If you ask them how many stars and stripes are on the U.S. flag and what they mean, they can answer you quickly!

Recently, as the weather gets colder, the children were curious about the temperature in Michigan. They checked online and found it was only 2°C! They were surprised and said, “Wow, I thought it would be below zero!” Suddenly, 2°C didn’t feel so cold anymore.

The children are also very curious about their exchange partners’ school life. They asked many interesting questions, and the teachers sent these to Michigan for the students there to answer. Here are some of their questions:

In addition, Class 301 prepared a cultural box full of Taiwanese items to send to their partners in Michigan! Inside, there are traditional toys, popular snacks (like instant noodles and sarsaparilla candy), and handmade spring couplets and New Year cards. We also included calligraphy tools and red paper so the exchange partners can try writing spring couplets themselves. We can’t wait to see their calligraphy works! On packing day, we even made a cute packing video to share with them. We’re so excited to see their reaction when they receive the cultural box!

Since the beginning of the semester, the children in Class 301 have been preparing for this exchange. They’ve practiced introducing themselves in English, making videos, writing cards, and learning about different cultures. These fun activities are like opening a door to the world for these third graders, helping them learn and grow through this wonderful exchange experience!
