This school year, our fourth graders are exchanging postcards with Sakawa Elementary School in Kanagawa, Japan. They used what they learned from the "Little Duck Postcard" project in our international curriculum to design their own postcards. Some students introduced their hometown, some drew our Yungning school, and others painted their impressions of Taiwan.
On the back of the postcards, students wrote self-introductions and descriptions in Chinese, English, and Japanese. After finishing, they were very excited to know how their Japanese friends would react and couldn’t wait to receive postcards from Japan!
At the start of the semester, we received the postcards from Japan! The students at Sakawa Elementary School made beautiful 3D postcards that showed Japan’s special culture. They also used English to introduce themselves to their Yungning friends. Our students were very happy and carefully kept these precious postcards as a symbol of their international friendship.
The Japanese students were surprised to learn that our school raises ducks. They also found it interesting that each Yungning student has both a Chinese and an English name!
On March 5th, our fourth graders will have an online exchange meeting with Sakawa Elementary School! We will share our school life and hometown culture. Let’s look forward to this special event together!
