Steven Meisel is an American photographer that is best known for being one of the fashion industry's most iconic photographers. Meisel's interest in art and the fashion world started when he was fairly young. Instead of playing with toys, he would sit down and sketch models from magazines. Meisel was born in Manhattan and grew up on Long Island, he attended the High School of Art and Design in New York City. Then after high school, Meisel went on to pursue an education at Parsons The New School of Design, where he majored in Fashion Illustration. After attending college, he became a fashion illustrator for Women's Wear Daily, then after some smaller shoots he was hired by Vogue to photograph the collections. Throughout his career, he has received numerous awards and his work has been shown in galleries all over the world. Meisel isn't original he continues to push himself within his work to succeed in unique ways.
